i am writing this, sitting in what will someday be our "library" watching the celing fan bounce like a reverse trampoline above me (yes i just coined the term, reverse trampoline). i am watching the roof come down off of our house. sometimes one board at a time, sometimes what seems like entire chunks...it is definately a bit unnerving. i need to see what going on. you should come with me.
here we go.
this is the access we cut to see the inside of the attic. yes that is a tree. yes that is the sky. |
climbing through the hole |
where we once had a roof maybe this is why the whole roof was shaking and moving when you walked on it... |
after tearing off the old wood (which we are saving for a future project. the rest will be recycled). |
the truck bringing fresh lumber |
bringing lumber up the drive way. |
the morning has been pretty intense as we realize that we are actually going through with this and that we are actually and literally not going to have a roof for an undetermined amount of time... that combined with a little too much coffee...HA!!!
nick finally conquered his nervousness (near panic attackness) by going outside and sorting the old wood and metal as it is coming off the roof into reusable, recyclable, and waste. i am staying inside organizing, and cleaning the kitchen and bathroom cabinets for the um-teenth time. this is really just an ex cues to stay with the dogs and make sure they are not stressing out with all the sounds of deconstruction above. as a side note: they are shockingly calm, maybe calmer than us.
and some how in the middle of all this we are supposed to decide how we want the gables to look? HA! actually we decided quickly. i am excited.
