addressing the hardwood floors

the drywall is sanded. yay!

we are now thinking about addressing the floors in the main living spaces. sadly, as the construction has taken place, more and more of these old termite channels have surfaced. so much of this floor is damaged!!! holy shnikees! ugh. we have done some research and found this video to be very helpful!

our budget for the front of the house is well, slim to none at this point. redoing the whole floor is not an option we want to consider at this point. 

so we are trying to come up with a creative solution...

we'll let you know what we decide!

fireplace

some of our friends from beaufort came up to asheville to visit this week.
they came over to see all of our progress...

tonight, we built our first fire in our newly fixed fireplace!

drywall

all of the drywall has been installed, taped and mudded. unfortunately, it is taking FOREVER to dry. it rained two inches last week. and no sunshine...boooooo. now we are just waiting to be able to have the drywall sanded. keeping our fingers crossed for warm dry weather.

 these windows were found during demolition behind the plaster. we took them to wholesale glass and mirror company on haywood road to repair the broken panes. they did a great job!
