the laundry room: new doors!

october
this picture is a reminder of the first time we saw the laundry room. a lot has happened since then, especially in the last couple of weeks. we have moved the laundry room and are turning this room into an extension of the kitchen slash mudroom.
wednesday: the before
wednesday: the after!!!
this week we put the new french doors in the former laundry room.
we found these at the Habitat ReStore. we were concerned they might be a little too big for the room....
but no regrets! they look great!
standing in the kitchen looking towards the back yard
putting up new siding
the far away shot (and our lovely and peaceful backyard oasis)
(me in my cru coffee and wine bar hoodie: a little beaufort coffee shop love!)
i do a little work from time to time...
i was standing in the kitchen when i shot this.
and we are done for the night!

this weekend, we finally and somewhat officially, reclaimed another room in our home - the dining room. for now, it will serve as our living room. but i wanted to remind you of the phases of this project.
these pictures are from the first day in our new house waaaaaaay back in october!

and then there was this part: the demolition back in november
 there was the demolished

the rebuild!

making it a home!!!
we still have to hang the trim, but for right now, that can wait!
the laundry is now the laundry room, and the den is the den. yay!

master bedroom

picture it:

the floors
kona brown to match the new dining room
dirty new floors
(they will be a a little different than these original floors because we are reusing some leftover flooring from a different house. but they will be stained the same color).

this is what our
head board wall
will look like....
and THIS is the new wall color...

add dark brown floors, white curtains, maybe a rust colored bed spread...
the bathroom will not stay pepto pink, i promise!

HOLY BRIGHT WALLS!

so these pictures don't do it justice...but i think its going to be awesome, when its all done....
(at least i hope, because we ARE NOT painting this room again!)

today, we will be laying the floors in the master. and maybe start building the accent wall.

the front moves forward!

as of last week, our house was looking a lot like this:
minus the scaffolding, that would've been such a luxury!!!

notice the window up top:
no trim. tyvek and paper flying everywhere. flashing. unfinished cedar shake...

at the beginning of the week, our house looked like this:
oh la la!!!
window trim, cedar shake starting to get in place, tyvek and flashing disappearing!
lookin good!
as of last night, our house looks like this:
picture taken this morning
all done!
my dear sweet hubby who is terribly afraid of heights, stood on the ladder for three days and did this pretty much all by himself. up and down. up and down.
climb up, attach paper (no easy task with only two hands), cut paper to size, climb down, find shingle, measure width, climb back up measure cut of shingle, climb back down, cut shingle, climb back up, attach shingle, climb back down find new shingle,  .......etc. so slow!
99% all by him self.
the other 1% was yesterday, while nick's parents helped for a bit and i helped for a bit. but essentially, all we did was find the right size shingle to go up next, and tell him the width, so he could measure the cut, climb down the ladder, cut the shingle. climb back up and attach it.
are you still reading???
i don't know why, because i just confused myself typing all that!
HA!
ITS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
thanks hubby!

painting the bedroom

inspired by this picture from pinterest
and this one from google (sorry i forgot where)
we are going to use some of the old boards from the roof and imitate these pictures.
this will cover our hole in the wall in the bedroom, and be a fairly easy way to address the challenge.
we chose this color to paint the other walls.
we don't like it.
its pretty, but way too blue. and  kind of boring.

who wants BORING? right?
to give my hubby a little shout out:
in 24 hours, nick ripped up the old floor in the new bedroom (to be reused to patch the floor in the living room and foyer), built the new wall, leveled the floor, and primed and painted the walls in the new bedroom.
holy wow-zers!!!!!!!
